SAP RISE Implementation for One of the Largest Media Groups in Portugal

SAP RISE Implementation for One of the Largest Media Groups in Portugal

Overview

One of the largest media groups in Portugal faced the need to modernize its legacy ERP, deeply embedded in daily operations and widely used across the organization. The existing system had a very high level of integration with operational systems, supporting critical business processes, but was beginning to show limitations in responding to specific legal and operational requirements within the Portuguese market.

This transformation became essential to ensure greater agility, scalability, and alignment with technological and market best practices.

We supported a public sector organization in modernizing and optimizing its SAP system, improving data integration and efficiency in financial management.

Challenge

The main challenge of this project lay in the complexity of the existing ecosystem, characterized by a highly integrated ERP system that was critical to daily operations. The need to ensure business continuity while introducing a new SAP RISE-based architecture required a rigorous and highly specialized approach.

Additionally, this was a pioneering project on a global scale within the RISE context, demanding a deep understanding of the offering and the ability to deliver with the same level of quality and robustness as traditional on-premise implementations.

Adapting the solution to Portuguese legal and fiscal requirements — particularly in the areas of financial accounting, management accounting, and billing operations — added an additional layer of complexity to the project.

Solution

To address the complexity of the existing landscape, a comprehensive SAP RISE transformation strategy was implemented, combining technological modernization with a strong focus on operational continuity and business process optimization.

The project included the migration and redesign of critical SAP environments, ensuring seamless integration with operational systems already embedded within the organization. A phased and carefully controlled implementation approach was adopted to minimize risk and guarantee stability throughout the transition.

Special attention was given to adapting the solution to Portuguese legal and fiscal requirements, particularly within financial accounting, management accounting, and billing operations. The architecture was designed to provide greater scalability, flexibility, and long-term sustainability, while maintaining the robustness required by a large-scale media organization.

Throughout the project, governance, testing, data migration, and user adoption were managed in close collaboration with business stakeholders, ensuring a smooth transition to the new SAP RISE environment and preparing the organization for future digital evolution.

Results

The implementation was successfully completed, positioning the client at the forefront of SAP RISE adoption on a global scale. The new system delivered significant technological modernization while maintaining the robustness and reliability required in an enterprise environment. The full adoption of SAP Fiori resulted in a clear improvement in user experience and greater efficiency in process execution.

The client now benefits from a future-ready platform capable of meeting both legal and operational requirements in Portugal, while supporting ongoing business evolution. Integration with existing systems was successfully preserved, ensuring operational continuity.

Additionally, the implementation of Group Reporting strengthened the organization’s financial consolidation and group-level analysis capabilities, contributing to more informed and strategic decision-making.
